Crafter’s Companion 2022 Advent Calendar door 23- gatefold card with shadowbox

Updated: Jan 1, 2023

Door 23 was a nice little set. I really liked the mirror image; it gives you a lot of options for your card. The mirror image made me think gatefold card and the set itself made me think topper so that led me to the gatefold with a shadowbox. This card does have several sections to mat and layer but they are all the same colors so you can cut the paper to the 6 ¾ or 6 ½ length then cut the width to save paper. The sections are all in pairs except for 1 so it layers easily. This 5x7 card still folds flat to go into an envelope but is a nice surprise when you open it up.

Red 3 x 2 ½

Directions

1. Tack together the green 6 ¾ x 3 ¾ and the white 6 ½ and 3 ½ to the center area of the 7x8

2.place the red message paper and the middle set of nesting dies in the center panel where you want it. Tape the scalloped piece of the nesting die in place, remove the red paper and plain circle die and die cut it. It is going through 3 layers of paper so you may have run it through twice.

3. Now put the 2 pieces of the nesting die back together and die cut the frame.

4. Now emboss all the white and green pieces.

5. Mat and layer both of the green 6 ¾ x 2 ¼ and white 6 ½ x 2.

6. Glue to the card front gates.

7. Mat and layer the 2 green 6 ¾ x 1 ¼ and the white 6 ½ x 1

8. Mat and layer the green 6 ¾ x 3 ¾ and the white 6 ½ x 3 ½ then glue the frame on top.

9. Glue the 6 ¾ x 1/4 green paper to the outer section of the 7 x 8 then work your way across the paper gluing the panels in place, this way you can line them up straight.

10. Stamp your inside message on the white 2 ¾ x 2 ¼ paper and mat it to the red 3 x 2 ½ then glue to the center section under the frame.

11. Stamp, color and die cut 6 sets of the candy canes and 3 bows.

12. Criss cross 1 set of the candy canes and glue. Either glue or foam tape and place a bow on top. Then put the whole thing on foam tape.

13. Glue the 6 ¾ x 4 ¾ green paper to the center section of the red 7 x 10 card base

14.Line up the 7 x8 over the 7 x 10 centering the middle sections. Place the candy cane topper inside the frame.

15. Glue 3 cady canes to the sections on to the right and left of the center section.

15. Glue the ½ in section of the 7 x8 to the edge of the 7 x 10 base flush to the edge. Do this to both sides.

16. On the card front Glue the green mat and the white layers together and glue in place.

17. For each front panel place 2 candy canes and 1 bow on foam then attach to the panel.
