Double Dutch Card -Craft Roulette #161

Updated: Jul 4, 2023

Today I made a double Dutch card following the perimeters for episode #161 of Craft Roulette. This card is a little more grunge than I usually make and I really liked it. Time Holtz just might be on to something when he says “everything looks better with a little brown on it.” As I made the card, I was thinking this would make a great masculine card. The littler hamster wheel in my head is now spinning with some ideas.

There is a template and an SVG for both 8 ½ x 11 and 12x 12 paper. The advantage of using the 12x12 paper is the card can be made in 1 piece. If you use 8 ½ x 11 the card base is made in 2 parts and glued together. Once you glue the mat layer the seam is not very visible.

To use the SVG download it to your PC then upload it into your cutting machine. It includes a mat for the 3 front sections and the inside.

The template can be printed from the website or downloaded to your PC.

Directions

1. Use the SVG or template to cut out the card base. If using the 8 ½ x 11 template glue the 3 x10 paper to the bottom of the 11x5, not the end where the score line is.

2. Select a book page to blend over I used a digital page I printed on Neenah paper.

3. Blend the Distressed Oxide inks (not the gathered twigs) over the entire book page.

4. Stamp the party hat and confetti all over the paper the spritz with water wait a few seconds then dab with a paper towel. Set it aside to dry.

5. Die cut, stamp and color the cake. Place on foam.

6. Die cut a 3 ¼ in white circle and a 3 ½ inch dark gray circle.

7. Using the cake for spacing, stamp the Happy Birthday on the top of the white circle. Blend gathered twig around the edged then attach the cake.

8. Stamp the inside message to the white 6 ¾ x 4 ¾, making sure it is only the top 4 inches of the card. Stamp the gifts across the bottom 3 inches of the paper and color.

9. Cut your book page into the following sizes for the mat layers. Make sure the words are going in the direction you want. 1- 4 ¾ wide x 3 ¾ tall, 2- 2 ¼ wide x 2 ¾ tall. Glue then m into place.

10. Glue the topper on the top section.
