Gatefold shadowbox card

Updated: Jan 13, 2023

I saw this card as a 5 ½ x 4 ¼ on Dawn’s stamping thoughts You tube channel and resized It to 5x7. This card is easy to put together but has a lot of wow factor. It even folds. I put 2 openinging inthe first Santa and Elf card. For the snowman card I used nesting dies so I could put a frame around the opening. Finally for the gold glitter card Santa I used a frome with a cut out center. As long as the dies are less than about 3 1/2 you can use anything to cut the opening.. Below you will see links to a You a SVG , Tube video, all paper measurements and wriutten directions.

Directions

1. Cut all pieces in paper of your choice using the list above.

2. Burnish all the folds on the card base and shadowbox.

3. Mat and layer all the papers for the panels.

4 For the shadowbox, take the 7x8 paper and with a very small amount of glue, in the center of the papers, tack the mat and layer into place on the center panel of the shadowbox.

5. Place the smaller nesting die on the middle section of the shadowbox where you wish the opening to be and run it through your die cut machine. Be sure to leave room for any message or frame you want to place on the panel.

6. To make the frame, nest the 2 nesting dies and run them through your die cut machine.

7. Glue the mat and layer pieces to the corresponding shadowbox panels, then glue the frame on top of the opening.

8. Glue the topper to the inside of the opening so it shows throught the opening.

9.For the card base glue the 2 1/2 in mat and layers to the front of the card.

10. place glue on the back side of the 1/2 panel of the shadowbox and attach to the edge of the card base. The card should be flush with the top and sides. Repeat on the other side.

Your card should now open and close. Add any other decoration you wish. A belly band may help keep the card closed.
